Hello my name is LaKayshu Burks. I have a bachelors in social work and starting this fall I will be furthering my education by obtaining a masters in psychology and social work. 

 

I have always had a passion for helping others. Because of this, I decided to train with Doulas of North America in May and June of 2020 to support families during pregnancy and childbirth. Upon completing the training, I realized that I had made one of the best decisions of my life. The information and knowledge gained from the training was life changing. I connected and bonded with so many other birth workers that were also starting their journeys as doulas. One of the things I enjoy the most about being a doula is providing people with information and evidence that will allow them to make choices that are best for them and their family.

 

My goal is to be able to help birthing people by offering all of the skills I learned to help them have an empowering birthing experience and ensuring them they have me as a companion by their side. I am excited about my future as a doula and am eager to learn so much more and gain more experience. During my spare time I enjoy reading good novels, singing, baking delicious treats and spending as much time as I can with my loved ones.
